Statement of Community Consultation launched to public

Beacon Fen Energy Park has set out how it plans to engage with local communities at its statutory consultation next year by publishing its Statement of Community Consultation (SoCC).

Available to view both online at www.beaconfenenergypark.co.uk/documents and in hard copy at local information points, the SoCC  outlines what people can expect during the consultation, including in-person events which are set to be held in Heckington, Bicker, South Kyme, and Ewerby, and online webinars. It shows how the statutory consultation will be promoted to local communities and stakeholders so they can take part.

It also details proposed timelines for the consultation period and how consultees can provide their feedback during the statutory consultation and shape the project.

James Hartley-Bond, Director at Low Carbon, said: “Publishing the SoCC is a crucial step in our project, and we are pleased this has been delivered on time and shared with the local community across Lincolnshire.

“We look forward to speaking with many local residents and stakeholders in the coming weeks and gathering their feedback to inform our final project before submitting our application to the Planning Inspectorate.”

Beacon Fen Energy Park, located east of Sleaford, Lincolnshire, could provide power for around 130,000 homes and reduce up to 72,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions each year. Beacon Fen Energy Park could generate over 50MW of electricity so is considered a Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project (NSIP). This requires Low Carbon to submit an application for a Development Consent Order (DCO) to the Planning Inspectorate.

The development process for the project through to submission, and then examination of the DCO application, is expected to take until 2025. Subject to achieving development consent, construction would start no earlier than 2026.

The SoCC is available to download on the Beacon Fen Energy Park website here. The document is also available to view in various locations around Lincolnshire. Please see below for the full list.
